Search your workspace

Find files by name, content, or tag — and filter results to narrow down exactly what you need.

Search is available from anywhere in your workspace. Press Cmd + K on Mac or Ctrl + K on Windows and Linux to open the search bar, type your query, and press Enter to see results. Use the arrow keys to move through results and Enter to open the file you want.

On all plans, search matches file names. Type any part of a file name — for example, typing "auth" surfaces files named "authentication-guide.md" or "oauth-setup.md".

With a paid plan, search looks inside file content too. This means you can find a file by a phrase it contains, even if that phrase isn't in the file name.

Results are ranked so the closest matches appear first: exact file name matches come first, then partial name matches, then content matches.

Filter your results

After you run a search, click Filter to narrow results by:

  • Context library — limit results to one or more specific libraries
  • Tag — show only files with a particular tag applied
  • Date — filter by when a file was created or last modified

You can combine filters. For example, you can filter to a single context library and a specific tag at the same time.

Search tips

  • Start broad, then filter — a short search term plus a library filter is often faster than a long query
  • Use the file name — if you remember part of what you called a file, searching the name is the quickest route
  • Check your filters — if results look wrong, make sure no filters from a previous search are still active
  • Verify access — if a file isn't appearing, confirm you have permission to view it
