Account settings

Update your display name, email, profile picture, password, and notification preferences.

Your account settings let you update your personal information and control how Contextium notifies you. All of these options are in Settings, which you can reach by clicking your profile picture in the top right corner.

Update your display name and email

Change your display name

Your display name appears next to your contributions in files, comments, and the activity feed.

  1. Go to SettingsProfile.
  2. Click Edit next to your name.
  3. Enter your new display name.
  4. Click Save.

Change your email address

Your email address is used to log in and receive notifications.

  1. Go to SettingsProfile.
  2. Click Change Email.
  3. Enter your new email address.
  4. Check your inbox and click the verification link.

Your email address updates once you've verified the new one.

Change your profile picture

Your profile picture is shown next to your name throughout Contextium. If you signed up with Google or GitHub, your picture is pulled from that account automatically.

If you signed up with an email and password, your avatar shows your initials until a custom picture is added. Custom profile picture upload is coming soon.

Change your password

  1. Go to SettingsProfile.
  2. Click Change Password.
  3. Enter your current password, then enter and confirm your new password.
  4. Click Update Password.

Your password must be at least 8 characters and include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

If you've forgotten your current password, go to the login page and click Forgot Password. You'll receive a reset link by email — it expires after 24 hours.

Security settings like two-factor authentication and single sign-on are managed centrally by your organisation's identity provider.

Notification preferences

Contextium notifies you in-app and by email when things happen in your workspace. You can control exactly what you're notified about and how often.

What triggers notifications

Notifications cover the main types of activity in your workspace:

  • File activity — edits, comments, and deletions on files you created or are watching
  • Comments — replies to your comments and new comments on your files
  • Team activity — members joining or leaving, role changes, and invitations
  • Workspace updates — billing changes, plan limit warnings, and settings changes
  • Security alerts — new logins, password changes, and two-factor authentication changes

Manage your notification preferences

  1. Go to SettingsNotifications.
  2. Find the notification category you want to adjust.
  3. Toggle each type on or off for in-app and email delivery.
  4. Your changes save automatically.

You can also choose how often to receive each type:

  • Real-time — notified as soon as the event happens
  • Daily digest — a summary sent each morning at 9 AM in your timezone
  • Weekly digest — a summary sent on Monday mornings
  • Never — turn off that notification type entirely

Managing in-app notifications

Click the bell icon (the notification icon) in the header to open your notification centre. From there you can:

  • Click any notification to go directly to the related content
  • Mark individual notifications as read
  • Click Mark All as Read to clear everything at once

Email notification preferences

To fine-tune which emails you receive:

  1. Go to SettingsNotifications.
  2. Scroll to Email Preferences.
  3. Toggle notification emails, product updates, and marketing emails on or off.
  4. Click Save.

You can also unsubscribe from a specific notification type by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any notification email.

Do Not Disturb

If you need to focus without interruptions, turn on Do Not Disturb:

  1. Go to SettingsNotifications.
  2. Enable Do Not Disturb.
  3. Choose a duration: 1 hour, 4 hours, until tomorrow, or a custom time.
  4. Click Enable.

While Do Not Disturb is on, in-app and email notifications are paused. Security alerts — such as an unexpected login — are still delivered regardless of this setting.
