Create and edit files
How to create a new file in your workspace and start writing.
Your workspace holds all your documentation as files. You can create them from the dashboard or from inside a context library, and changes save automatically as you type.
File types
When you create a file, Contextium asks you to choose a type. Each type is designed for a different kind of content and behaves differently once saved.
Markdown File
Notes, docs, and reference material. Use this for anything you want to write, edit, and keep up to date — project briefs, specs, how-to guides, runbooks, and research notes. Fully editable, searchable, and readable by your AI agents.
Meeting Transcript
An immutable, AI-powered record of a meeting. Paste or upload a transcript from Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, Slack Huddle, or any other platform. Contextium locks the record and automatically extracts a summary, key decisions, and action items. Once finalised, the transcript cannot be edited — it becomes a trusted, auditable record.
Use Meeting Transcripts for team meetings, 1:1s, standups, client calls, sales discovery calls, board meetings, and reviews.
Decision Record
A locked record of a significant decision. Capture why a decision was made — the options considered, the rationale, and who made the call. The record is locked on save, so the original reasoning is always preserved alongside any future amendments.
Use Decision Records for architecture and technical choices, product direction calls, hiring decisions, and policy or process changes.
Project Brief
A structured overview of a project or initiative. Define the goal, scope, stakeholders, and success criteria in one place. A clear starting point that your AI agents can reference throughout the project.
Use Project Briefs for new feature or product briefs, client project scopes, and sprint or milestone overviews.

Create a Meeting Transcript
Meeting Transcripts have a dedicated creation flow.
- Click Add File and choose Meeting Transcript.
- Enter a meeting title.
- Fill in the optional details — meeting date, platform, and participant names (comma-separated).
- Add the transcript content in one of two ways:
- Paste transcript — paste the text directly from your meeting platform.
- Upload file — drag and drop or browse for a
.vtt,.srt,.txt,.docx, or.pdffile.
- Click Save Transcript.
Once saved, Contextium processes the transcript with AI and adds a summary, action items, decisions made, and auto-generated tags to the right-hand panel. The transcript is then finalised and marked as an immutable record — it cannot be edited.
You can use the Ask Anything chat in the transcript viewer to ask questions about the meeting content.
