Make a library private
Restrict a library to specific workspace members and control their access level.
By default, every library in a workspace is visible to all members. You can make a library private to hide it from everyone except the people you explicitly invite.
To manage permissions, open a library, click Settings, then select Permissions from the left menu.
Enable private mode
Toggle Private library on. Once enabled:
- The library is hidden from all workspace members who haven't been invited.
- It no longer appears in search or library lists for non-members.
- Only you and any members you add can open it.
To make the library visible to everyone again, toggle Private library off. Any member invitations you've set up are kept in case you re-enable it.
Invite a member
Private mode must be on before you can invite anyone.
- Click Add member.
- Search by name or email.
- Click a person's name to add them — they're added as Viewer by default.
- Use the role dropdown next to their name to change the role if needed.
Roles
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Viewer | Read files in the library |
| Editor | Read and write files in the library |
Remove a member
Click the × next to a member's row. They lose access immediately.
Notes
- You must be the library owner or a workspace admin to change permissions.
- Workspace owners and admins always retain access to all libraries regardless of private settings.
- Members removed from the workspace are automatically removed from private library access lists.
