Trash and Recovery
How to restore deleted files from the trash, and what happens to deleted content over time.
When you delete a file or folder in Contextium, it moves to your Trash rather than disappearing immediately. You have 30 days to restore it before it's permanently deleted.
How trash works
Deleted content sits in your Trash, hidden from normal views and not searchable. Seven days before something is permanently deleted, you'll get an email warning — and another reminder the day before. Deleted items still count toward your storage quota until they're gone for good.
Restoring content
Go to Trash in the sidebar. Find the item you want to recover — you can restore one item or select several using the checkboxes, then click Restore Selected. Restored content returns to its original location. If that location no longer exists, the item lands at the root of your workspace.
Permanent deletion
To remove something before the 30-day window ends, click Delete Forever next to the item and confirm. Click Empty Trash to clear everything at once — type "DELETE" to confirm. Permanently deleted content cannot be recovered, including all version history.
To recover an older version of a file that still exists, open the file and use Version history instead.
