Contextium Tasks are full-featured to-dos built for human–AI teams. Assign owners, set due dates, get overdue alerts, and let every AI session pick up exactly where your team left off — no briefing required.
Every new AI session starts cold — unless your tasks are built in
Add tasks anywhere. AI reads them everywhere.
Every task has a title, description, workflow, priority (High / Medium / Low), assignee, and due date — all set from the same panel whether you're on web, desktop, or inside a workflow. Add tasks from the app, CLI, or via your AI agent using the MCP tools.
When an AI agent calls load_workflow, the response includes the active task list with status, priority, assignee, and due date. The AI immediately knows what to work on — in-progress tasks first, then the highest-priority to-dos next.
Contextium runs a nightly check on every task with a due date. Tasks past their deadline are automatically promoted to Overdue status and the assignee is notified. A reminder is also sent the day before a task is due — so nothing slips through silently.
Powerful enough for teams. Simple enough for solo workflows.
Set a due date on any task. Contextium automatically marks tasks overdue when they pass their deadline and notifies the assignee — no manual chasing.
Get alerted the day before a task is due and when it goes overdue. Control each notification type independently in your preferences — overdue alerts, due-soon reminders, and more.
Mark tasks High, Medium, or Low priority. The AI reads priority when deciding what to work on next, and tasks are surfaced accordingly in your task list.
Assign tasks to any workspace member. Each person's AI session sees their assigned tasks plus unassigned ones — scoped automatically to the right person.
Every AI session starts with your task list. Agents automatically resume in-progress work and pick the next to-do — no prompt engineering needed.
The same task panel — title, description, workflow, priority, assignee, due date — works identically on the web app, desktop app, and inside any workflow view.
Search by task title or workflow name. Find any task across every workflow in your workspace instantly — with filters for assignee, priority, and status.
Filter by status (Active, Done, Dismissed, Overdue), assignee, workflow, or priority. The Tasks page automatically sorts workflows by active task count so the busiest appear first.
Add, update, assign, set due dates, and complete tasks from the CLI or via MCP tools. Integrate tasks directly into any AI coding or documentation workflow.
Set a date. Get reminded. Never miss a deadline silently again.
Contextium sends an in-app and email notification to the assigned team member the day before a task is due. No more last-minute scrambles — everyone knows what's coming up.
Every night, Contextium checks all active tasks. Any task past its due date is automatically promoted to Overdue status — highlighted in red in the task list — and the assignee receives a notification.
Control exactly what you receive. Toggle overdue alerts and due-soon reminders on or off independently in your notification settings — alongside your other task, workflow, and team notification preferences.
When your AI loads a workflow, overdue tasks appear with their status in the active list. The AI can prioritise them accordingly — or flag them to you — without any extra prompting.
Task lifecycle
Five surfaces, one shared task list
Open the Tasks page, find your workflow section, and click "Add task". The same full-featured panel — title, description, workflow, priority, assignee, due date — is available everywhere in the app.
Tell your AI: "Add a high-priority task to the Sprint 12 workflow to fix the pagination bug, due Friday." The add_task MCP tool handles it instantly.
Check your task list, update statuses, and add new items from the Contextium mobile app — keeping your team in sync on the go.
MCP tools your AI agent uses automatically
Loads all workflow resources — agents, libraries, skills, and the active task list with status, priority, assignee, and due date. The AI immediately knows what to work on.
Adds a task to any workflow by name or ID with optional priority, assignee, and due date. Supports fuzzy name matching — if multiple workflows match, the AI asks you to pick.
Marks tasks as in_progress, done, or dismissed. Keeps the list accurate across every session.
Tasks are one layer of a complete AI collaboration platform
Workflows are the core unit in Contextium — they bundle your agents, libraries, skills, and tasks into a single loadable context. Every task belongs to a workflow, so your AI always has the right scope when it loads.
Learn about WorkflowsFor large multi-sprint work, use Contextium Projects alongside Tasks. Projects give your AI a Planner → Builder → Reviewer harness with phase-level tracking. Tasks keep the day-to-day to-dos. Use both together for complete end-to-end AI project management.
Learn about ProjectsContextium's AI agents are loaded alongside your tasks when a workflow starts. Your Builder, Reviewer, and custom agents don't just read documentation — they read the task list and execute accordingly, marking tasks done as they go.
Learn about Skills & AgentsUse Contextium's AI Chat to ask questions across your entire workspace — "What tasks are overdue in the Auth Refactor workflow?" or "What did we finish last sprint?" Get instant answers from your task history without leaving the app.
